Swimming Pool Water Testing
Testing your swimming pool water on a regular
basis is the best way to avoid most problems that
will occur. Following are some helpful hints to
consider while testing your pool water.
- Always test with an accurate test kit and
follow the instructions carefully.
- Start with a clean test kit and fresh reagents.
- Change reagents annually.
- Don't take the sample water close to return
inlets.
- When getting water sample, hold the test vial
upside down covered by your finger and push
down 18" to get the sample.
- Measure water sample carefully. The lowest
point of water sample must meet the fill-line
on the test vial.
- Invert the reagent bottle straight upside
down to add reagent drops to the test water.
- Don't cover test vial with fingers... use
the caps provided with the kit.
- Read the results against a white background.
- Don't dump the residue from the water test
back into the pool water.
- Always follow the test kit instructions carefully.
